Elka B. Blonder joined Cooper Trachtenberg Law Group, LLC in 2023 as an Associate Attorney. She is a creative thinker, a dedicated problem-solver, and an innovative strategist. Whether drafting a prenup, negotiating a divorce settlement, creating a parenting plan, or litigating a post-decree matter, Elka works tirelessly to ensure that her client’s needs are met. Elka is distinguished by her compassion for her clients and fierce advocacy for their best interests.
Elka was raised in northern Chicago. She graduated magna cum laude from the S. Daniel Abrams Honors Program at Yeshiva University, with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and an associate’s degree in Talmudic Studies. Her thesis exploring the film and media adaptations of Jane Austen’s novels is still one of her favorite projects, despite her later focus on legal literature. While pursuing her undergraduate degrees, Elka was a Judicial Intern for the Hon. Judge Esther Morgenstern in the King’s County Integrated Domestic Violence Court, a winning Mock Trial team captain, a Teaching Assistant for Hebrew language courses, a Senior Editor for the YU Observer, and Vice President of the Student Government. Elka received her J.D. and Advanced Certificate in Dispute Resolution from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in Manhattan. During her years at law school, Elka was a legal intern for the Chicago Rabbinical Council, a fellow for the Cardozo Divorce Mediation Clinic, a staff editor for the Cardozo Journal of Equal Rights and Social Justice, and was published by the New York State Bar Association. Elka also takes pride in her volunteer experience for non-profit organizations such as Chai Lifeline, NCSY, and the Organization for Resolution of Agunot (ORA).
Elka is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, the Decalogue Society of Lawyers, the DuPage County Bar Association, the Lake County Bar Association, the Northwest Suburban Bar Association, and the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois.
